The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is comprised of exhibition galleries and a historic building called the Spencer Mansion.
The art collection is comprised of works by Canadian, Asian and indigenous artists. The gallery has approximately 20,000 pieces it is permanent collection.
Works by Emily Carr are featured at the museum. Carr was born and lived in Victoria. She was one of the acclaimed "Group of Seven" painters.
The Spencer Mansion was built in 1889. It was once the residence of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.
The Art Gallery of Victoria is located at 1040 Moss Street. It is in the Rockland district of Victoria, not far from Craigdarroch Castle and Government House.
